FKI Logistex® UniSort® XV sliding shoe sorter achieves industry’s highest throughput
Key Facts:
• Achieves industry’s highest throughput rates of up to 24,000 cartons per hour against the industry norm of 12,900 cartons per hour
• Automates diagnostics for sliding shoe and linear belt sortation systems
• Includes new energy-saving features

FKI Logistex® - a global leader in integrated material handling solutions - has announced the launch of their new UniSort® XV sliding shoe sorter which achieves the industry’s highest throughput rate of up to 24,000 cartons per hour, compared to the industry norm of 12,900 cartons per hour.

The new system uses FKI Logistex advanced UniSort MXT™ software and vhswEDGE™ merging technologies to achieve an increase in system throughput without the need to increase system speed.

Until now, the most common methods of expanding the capacity of material handling systems have been the high-cost options of running additional shifts, or replacing ageing equipment with new equipment which operates at higher speeds. The UniSort XV, however, offers companies a more economical method of maximising their current distribution infrastructures by increasing throughput and minimising system downtime, without the need to invest in new facilities or to increase labour costs.

The UniSort XV features automated calibration, monitoring and diagnostic testing which effectively monitors and manages sortation systems, to simplify maintenance procedures and reduce energy consumption by ensuring that the system runs at optimal efficiency. Multispeed operation allows distribution and manufacturing facilities to adjust sorter speed to meet changes in demand, effectively lowering the overall energy costs and reducing wear and tear on the equipment. An energy-saving mode automatically shuts down the sorter during periods of inactivity to further reduce the amount of energy required to run the system.

"The UniSort XV system sets a new benchmark for the material handling industry," said Stephen Legg, Director, Product and Technology development, FKI Logistex. "It integrates conveyor control, data collection, automated system diagnostics and energy-saving features with a wide range of elements which ensure a best-fit approach to the control system for each application."

UniSort sorter controls are compatible with FKI Logistex BOSS® PC-based or PLC control systems, and support UniSort sliding shoe and linear belt sortation systems.
